"Supporting Israel and the IDF Barrel"
Released October, 2023
A collaboration with Gordon's to support Israel and raise money for Friends of the IDF (fidf.org).
Age: 8 years
Type: Bottled in Bond Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Proof: 100
Mash bill: 74% Corn/ 18% Rye/ 8% Malted Barley
Distillery: Barton 1792
Tasting notes:
Nose: Grape jelly, toasted bread, those oranges with cloves shoved in them that you'd better understand if you also married a goy.
Palate: This dances all over the flavor wheel. There are saccharine notes that come first, a la powdered sugar. The fruity aspects lean towards raspberry and bubble gum. Yes, bubble gum is a fruit. The spice box brings cinnamon and horehound. And then there's also a touch of caramel and vanilla.
Finish: Medium in length, sharing the complexity of the palate. Impressive for proof.
Overall: Barton product is consistently underrated because of limited distribution and no "big name" limited edition product coming from their distillery. This one is a diamond in the rough.
