Tasting notes:

Nose: Marzipan, iodine, sea breeze honey

Palate: Hazelnut, leather and butter are joined by the opposite side of the flavor wheel when pomegranate, sherry and mace (the spice, not the self-defense spray) dive in. The next few sips showcase the more subtle flavors of allspice, malt, marjoram and honey.

Finish: long and well balanced between the malted barley and the sweeter back of the palate.

Overall: Bourbon and rye drinkers, welcome to your gateway drug. For those looking to dive into scotch and not sure where to start, this is the place. It's an excellent transition between the two flavor wheels and would only be topped by a 51% corn 49% barley product aged at MGP, if only that existed.
